How to Look Younger

They say that with age comes wisdom – but it can also come with less desirable side effects, like wrinkles, fine lines, and sluggish collagen production.

Fortunately, we live in a time where you can have the best of both worlds: your hard-won experience plus younger, rejuvenated skin.

So if you’re wondering how to look younger, take a look at these four highly effective techniques and treatments!

4 Ways to Look Younger Longer

  1. Wear plenty of sunscreen.

This is the easiest – and arguably most effective – technique you can use to look younger for longer. The sun’s UV rays can cause a significant amount of sun damage, which leads to a host of premature aging symptoms (think wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and more).

Sunscreen is your first line of defense against these signs of aging, as it helps block UV rays. Look for sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or more, depending on your skin’s sensitivity to the sun.

Look for ways to make it easier to incorporate sunscreen into your daily routine. One suggestion is to invest in a tinted moisturizer that offers SPF protection.

We often recommend Elta MD UV Daily or Clear moisturizing facial sunscreen to our patients. These come in either tinted or non-tinted. They are perfect as an everyday sunscreen and contain hyaluronic acid, which help with fine lines and wrinkles. ColoreScience Tint du Soleil is a great whipped foundation that offers sun protection with SPF 30. You could pair this with the ColorScience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On SPF 50. This is a product that you can find in the purses and beach bags of most of our nurses. It’s a convenient brush-on sunscreen that can be used on men, women, and kids.

2. Corrective skincare.

A good skincare routine is another must-have weapon in your anti-aging arsenal. Your skincare regimen (which should include a gentle cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen) should be customized to your skin type.

It should also be easy enough to incorporate into your everyday life so that you continue to use it. For example, if your skincare regimen requires eight-steps but you have an extremely busy schedule, you’re probably not going to follow it. Our Optimal Skincare line simplifies your nighttime skin routine down to just three simple steps – wash, pat dry and apply and can be targeted to your skin goals.

Twin Ports Dermatology offers complimentary skin care consults. One of our experienced, professional AP Estheticians can help you establish a complete skincare routine in a 30 minutes Med Spa visit. They can also recommend skin treatments that can correct your skin and build collagen, beyond skin care products.

3. Botox/Dysport/Dermal filler injections.

If you have moderate wrinkles, fine lines, and facial folds, anti-aging injectables may be the best choice for you. These injections can treat signs of aging while also promoting long-term collagen production (dermal fillers).

We typically recommend Botox and Dysport for forehead wrinkles and frown lines, while patients with facial folds and volume loss see better results with dermal filler injections.

4. Medical spa treatments.

Aging symptoms are often caused by a decrease in collagen and elastin production. Therefore, in order to look younger for longer, it makes sense to seek out treatments that help increase collagen and elastin production. This production can help create firmer, smoother, and younger-looking skin, even well into your golden years.

Examples of these medical spa treatments include chemical peels, skin resurfacing treatments, microneedling, DiamondGlow facials, and more!
