What is Skinvive™ by Juvederm®?
Skinvive™ by Juvederm® is an injectable treatment that uses the science behind the world’s most popular family of dermal fillers. Instead of treating fine lines, wrinkles, or volume loss, Skinvive™ provides intensive hydration from within your skin, achieving a dewy look that no topical products can achieve. Your skin looks nourished, fresh, and lit from within. Since it does not add volume, Skinvive™ will not change the shape or contours of your face.
How Does Skinvive™ by Juvederm® Work?
Like its relatives, Skinvive™ uses hyaluronic acid. You may have heard of this compound as an increasingly popular ingredient in skincare products. Hyaluronic acid works by attracting hydration and holding it in the skin, preventing it from being lost. When used in dermal fillers, it is cross-linked into thicker formulas.
Skinvive™ is a microdroplet formula that allows hyaluronic acid to spread within the skin, adding smoothness and brightness. While other treatments can apply hyaluronic acid to the surface of the skin, only Skinvive™ injects it into the right layers to provide a brightening, hydrating effect. It can even enhance your other skincare products by giving them a dewy, smooth base to work on.
Am I a Good Candidate for Skinvive™ by Juvederm®?
Skinvive™ by Juvederm® is safe and effective for almost anyone. You may be a good candidate if you want to achieve more hydrated, healthy-looking skin without changing your facial shape or volume. Skinvive™ is ideal for those not yet concerned about lines, wrinkles, or volume loss. If you are bothered by these concerns, you may be a better candidate for a dermal filler. Skinvive™ candidates should be in good health and should not have injections if they have an active skin condition or infection in the treatment area.
How Long Does a Typical Skinvive™ Treatment Take?
Your Skinvive™ by Juvederm® treatment will typically take 30 minutes. The number of injections depends on your desired results and the size of the treatment area. Most people feel nothing more than a few small pinches, and each injection contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Skinvive™ is often referred to as a “lunchtime” procedure since you can get it on a break and return to work immediately afterward.
What Results Will I See With Skinvive™ by Juvederm®?
You may notice that your skin looks a bit smoother immediately after your injections. However, full results take about two weeks to develop. You will see your skin start to look more hydrated and feel healthier. Skinvive™ results will provide you with this healthy glow for six months or more. Using sun protection and quality skincare products can help your results last longer.
Skinvive™ by Juvederm® can be combined with many other treatments to help you achieve and maintain your skin goals. Treatments like microneedling or laser skin resurfacing can address issues like hyperpigmentation, textural concerns, or acne scars. Some people combine it with preventative Botox® to keep skin smooth over time.
Is There Any Downtime With Skinvive™ by Juvederm®?
You can leave your Skinvive™ by Juvederm® appointment and return to your daily routine without downtime. Minor redness, swelling, and bruising can occur. You may experience mild bruising, although we can provide you with tips to minimize this risk. Limit sun and heat exposure, strenuous exercise, and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after treatment.
- Avoid taking aspirin, vitamin E, garlic, alcohol, Ginko Biloba, fish oil, or any blood thinners for five days before treatment as these can increase the risk for bruising.
- Avoid dental work or vaccinations two weeks before & after treatment.
- You may have some redness, swelling, and bruising that can last a few days post-treatment. However, most of this is mild. Most people return to work the next day and can cover most of this with makeup.
- Avoid make-up or product application in the area of injection for 12 hours.
- Avoid strenuous activity, excessive heat or sun exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours.
- Wait four weeks after injection for any Med Spa service on the face.
- Your injector may ask you to lightly massage some areas if it is needed.
- Follow up with your injector if you have any lumps three weeks following treatment.
- Follow up with Twin Ports Dermatology by calling 218-302-10000 immediately if you have any signs of infection at the site, including increased redness, swelling, pain, fever, or drainage from the site.
