How Does Juvederm® Ultra XC Work?
Juvederm® Ultra XC contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound that can add volume to key injection sites. At Twin Ports Dermatology, we use Juvederm® Ultra XC for our lip injections, which help provide our patients with volumized, younger-looking lips. The “XC” refers to lidocaine, which ensures that patients don’t feel any discomfort during the injection process.
We also use Juvederm® Ultra XC to smooth away the appearance of smile lines and marionette lines. We err on the conservative side so that we’re not fully eliminating your smile lines – after all, they tell your story!
Am I a Good Candidate for Juvederm® Ultra XC?
You’re a good candidate for this treatment if you have thinning lips or vertical lines along your lips (also known as smoker’s lines).
You may also be a good candidate for Juvederm® Ultra XC injections if you want to minimize the appearance of smile lines and marionette lines.
How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?
Juvederm® Ultra XC takes about 20 minutes to administer, making this an extremely efficient lip augmentation treatment.
What Results Will I See?*
Results include a fuller and plumper pout, as well as reduced lip wrinkles. These results can last for up to six months.
Is There Any Downtime?
There’s no downtime associated with injections, although you might experience minor swelling and slight bruising at the treated site.
- Avoid taking aspirin, vitamin E, garlic, alcohol, Ginko Biloba, fish oil, or any blood thinners for five days before treatment as these can increase the risk for bruising.
- Avoid dental work or vaccinations two weeks before and after treatment.
- You may have some redness, swelling, and bruising that can last a few days post-treatment. However, most of this is mild. Most people return to work the next day and can cover any bruising with makeup.
- Avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours.
- Wait four to six weeks after injection for any Med Spa service on the face.
