BBL™ HERO LASER

BBL™ HERO LASER

Asset 1

BroadBand Light therapy is a gentle alternative to laser treatments that can greatly improve your complexion. With BBL™ HERO Laser, achieving that radiant glow has never been easier.

What is BBL™ HERO LASER?

BBL, or BroadBand Light, is a treatment that uses intense pulsed light to treat hyperpigmentation, signs of aging, acne, rosacea and more. Also called IPL therapy or a PhotoFacial, a BBL treatment can target many common skin concerns to give you a clearer, brighter complexion.

BBL™ HERO Laser takes this innovative treatment to the next level. The High Energy Rapid Output (HERO) technology makes BBL therapy faster, easier, and more effective than ever.

HOW DOES BROADBAND LIGHT THERAPY WORK?

Depending on the treatment area, light therapy treatments with BBL™ HERO Laser are typically 30 minutes or less. Though PhotoFacials are most commonly used for the face and neck, you can receive this treatment for almost any part of the body. Your Twin Ports Dermatology provider will simply move the device over your skin as it delivers rapid pulses of light. The device has advanced cooling technology to keep your skin at a comfortable temperature.

Pigment and unwanted broken capillaries or redness in your skin will absorb the light energy and break down. As your body then filters out these damaged cells, you’ll see reduced redness and melanin (brown pigment) for a clearer complexion. BBL™ HERO Laser can effectively treat hyperpigmentation issues such as dark spots, facial spider veins, rosacea, sun damage, and acne.

BroadBand Light therapy can have an anti-aging effect, too, improving your skin’s tone and texture. The heat of the IPL energy triggers a healing response within the skin, promoting collagen production. Collagen is essential for your skin’s firmness and elasticity. With improved collagen production, you can enjoy tighter, smoother skin with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

Am I a Good Candidate for BBL™ HERO LASER?

Since BBL™ HERO Laser targets pigment in the skin, the treatment is typically most effective for patients with lighter skin tones. We offer BBL therapy for many common complexion concerns, from wrinkles to uneven skin tone to acne scars.

One of our skin care specialists can assess your skin during a consultation to help you determine if BBL™ HERO Laser is right for you. If needed, we can recommend an alternative treatment, such as microneedling or chemical peels.

What Results Will I See With BBL™ HERO LASER?

A week or two after your BBL™ HERO Laser treatment, you’ll likely notice a brighter, more even complexion. Most patients need a few treatments for optimal results. We typically recommend two to four BBL treatments depending on what skin conditions you’re treating. However, the advanced BBL™ HERO Laser technology allows many patients to see faster results with fewer treatments than older devices.

Once you reach your desired improvements, you can enjoy them for several months. BBL™ HERO Laser results generally last up to a year. You can have annual maintenance treatments as needed for long-lasting skin rejuvenation.

Is There Any Downtime With BBL™ HERO LASER?

One of the advantages of BroadBand Light treatments is that they’re gentle and don’t require any recovery time. You can resume your regular routine immediately after a BBL™ HERO Laser treatment with no downtime.

Your skin may be somewhat pink or appear sunburned for a few hours, and you can use a cold compress or over-the-counter pain medication to relieve any minor discomfort. Since your skin will be more sensitive after BBL treatments, you’ll need to avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen for a few weeks after each session.

  • Consult with esthetician for in-depth review of treatment process.
  • Treatment cannot be delivered in the following scenarios:
    • You have a tan and/or recent sun exposure.
    • You are on heat sensitive medications such as antibiotics.
    • If any physician has ordered Accutane for you in the last 6 months.

  • The treated area may feel warm within the first 12 hours after the treatment, a cold compress may be used to provide comfort.
  • If the skin appears red or swollen (sunburn sensation), an icepack can provide comfort, same as Vitamin E or Aloe Vera applied to the treated area.
  • Redness may occur in the treated area and should resolve within a few hours.
  • Darkening of pigmentation will occur, followed by fading or flaking off at a later stage.
  • Follow your clinician’s aftercare plan until the skin is completely healed – typically one week after the treatment. The skin on the body will likely take longer to heal, compared to skin on the face.
  • In rare cases, oral pain relievers, such as Extra Strength Tylenol or Advil may be used. Most people find this is not necessary.
  • In the unusual case of broken skin or blistering, contact the office/provider immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight.
  • Cleanse the skin two times a day with plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Use your fingertips and a gentle patting motion. DO NOT rub, scrub, use an exfoliant or a skin care tool on the treated area.
  • Moisturizer should be applied generously over treated areas and reapplied when the skin feels dry.
  • Sunscreen is a MUST and should be used daily beginning the day of treatment and used consistently for up to three months post procedure. Use sunscreen with Broadband UVA and UVB protection and a SPF of 30. Reapply during sun exposure.
  • DO NOT expose your skin to direct sun exposure for 14 days. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change.
  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat or cover treated areas for two months post treatment to avoid blistering, scarring, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating for a minimum of 24-48 hours or until skin has healed.
  • While the skin is healing, avoid anything that will irritate the skin, such as exfoliants, shaving, too hot or too cold water, swimming pools and spa with multiple chemicals/chlorine.
