PRF Liquid
Rejuvenate your skin with your own growth factors
If your skin has lost some of its bounce, glow, or evenness, PRF Liquid offers a natural way to refresh your complexion using nothing but your own blood. Often called “liquid gold,” this treatment harnesses your body’s own growth factors to rejuvenate skin from the inside out, improving tone, texture, and hydration without synthetic fillers. At Twin Ports Dermatology, we use PRF Liquid to help Duluth patients achieve a refreshed, natural look with minimal downtime.
How Does PRF Liquid Work?
PRF Liquid is a platelet-rich fibrin solution derived from your own blood, spun to concentrate growth factors, healing cells, and regenerative proteins into a liquid form. Unlike traditional PRF, which clots into a gel, PRF Liquid stays fluid, allowing your provider to inject it across the face, neck, or other areas needing rejuvenation.
Once introduced into the skin, PRF Liquid:
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production
- Improves skin tone, texture, and hydration
- Reduces the look of fine lines and mild scarring
- Adds subtle volume and a healthy, natural glow
Because it comes entirely from your own body, PRF Liquid carries minimal risk of allergic reaction and pairs well with other cosmetic treatments.
Am I a Good Candidate for PRF Liquid?
PRF Liquid suits patients looking for subtle, natural rejuvenation rather than dramatic volume changes. You may be a good candidate if you’re noticing:
- Dull, tired-looking skin or uneven tone
- Fine lines around the eyes, forehead, or mouth
- Thin or crepey skin, especially under the eyes
- Mild acne scarring or textural irregularities
- A desire for a more natural alternative to synthetic fillers
PRF Liquid works best for patients seeking gradual improvement over multiple sessions rather than immediate, dramatic change. During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin, discuss your goals, and confirm you’re not on blood thinners or dealing with active infections that could affect treatment.
PRF Liquid | 3-Treatment Series
Achieve optimal results with a 3-treatment series and save $300! A series of treatments allows your body to build more collagen and achieve your longest-lasting results.
How Long Does a Typical PRF Liquid Treatment Take?
Most sessions take about 30 to 45 minutes. Because PRF Liquid flows more easily than gel-based PRF, it works especially well for larger areas like the under-eyes, cheeks, or neck, and it layers nicely with microneedling for enhanced results.
What Results Will I See With PRF Liquid?
Because PRF Liquid works by encouraging your skin’s own regenerative processes, results build gradually rather than appearing overnight. Many patients notice a subtle glow and improved hydration within the first couple of weeks, with more visible improvements in tone, texture, and firmness developing over the following one to three months as collagen production ramps up.
Results depend on your skin’s starting condition, how many sessions you complete, and your individual healing response. A series of two to three treatments spaced several weeks apart tends to deliver the most noticeable improvement, with maintenance sessions every six to twelve months helping sustain your results.
Is There Any Downtime After PRF Liquid?
PRF Liquid stands out for how gentle it is on your schedule. Since the treatment uses only fine needles and your own blood, most patients bounce back quickly.
- Mild redness, swelling, or bruising at injection sites, typically resolving within a few days
- Little to no downtime, so many patients return to normal activities the same day
- Avoid makeup for the first several hours after treatment
- Skip intense exercise, sun exposure, and alcohol for about 24 hours
Your provider will walk you through personalized aftercare tips based on the areas treated.
- Hydrate! Drink at least 64 oz of water and eat a good snack before coming to prepare for the blood draw.
- Take 2000 mg of Vitamin C daily before your treatment. The earlier you start, the better!
- Avoid Omega-3s, Turmeric, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, and Garlic Supplements for 7 days prior.
- To lessen your chance of irritation & redness, pause the use of Retinol and exfoliating acids 3 days before your treatment and for 3 days after.
- If you develop a fever, cold, or flu symptoms, or develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc., in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, you must reschedule (we will not treat you).
- If you have a special event or vacation coming up, we recommend scheduling your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance (we prefer 3-4).
- Discontinue use of anti-inflammatory drugs (steroidal and non-steroidal) such as Aspirin, Motrin (or any other Ibuprofen drugs) at least 3 days to 1 week before your treatment. With PRF, we “want” inflammation; this is one of the mechanisms by which PRF does its work. If you are or have been on systemic use of corticosteroids (steroids) within 2 weeks of treatment, we cannot treat you. Consult your physician for approval to discontinue the use of steroids and receive treatment.
- Discontinue use of any other blood-thinning agents such as Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s and DHA’s), etc. at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding.
- It is recommended that you avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, spicy foods, and cigarettes 3 days before and after your treatment. All of these may increase the risk of bruising.
- You can return to your daily activities almost immediately.
- Do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate the treated area (s) for at least 8 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid blood thinners and NSAIDs for 2 weeks following your treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.
- If you experience discomfort or pain, you may take acetaminophen/Tylenol as directed.
- You may apply ice to the injected area for 20-30 minutes after the procedure for comfort.
- Do not wash or take a shower for at least 6 hours after your treatment.
- Do not use any lotions, creams, or make-up for at least 6 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid vigorous exercise and sun and heat exposure for at least 3 days after your treatment.
- It is normal to experience bruising, redness, itching, soreness, and swelling that may last 3-14 days following your procedure.
- For optimal results, follow your product recommendations from your provider.
