How Much is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing restores collagen and elastin, reducing the appearance of acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and signs of aging. Not all laser skin resurfacing procedures are the same, however. At Twin Ports Dermatology we use Candela CO2RE to provide you with optimal results and enhanced comfort.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing uses laser energy to create heat in the dermal layers of the skin, triggering collagen and elastin production. Sublative laser treatment does not strip away skin layers. How does Laser Skin Resurfacing work?

The CO2RE system has been approved to treat conditions including:

  • Vascular and pigmented lesions
  • Rosacea
  • Acne scarring
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Lines and wrinkles

The key to these treatments: the laser resurfacing process uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to trigger the production of collagen and elastin in the dermis. As new collagen and elastin form, skin turnover increases, pushing away older layers and revealing more youthful, fresh-looking skin. New collagen and elastin also lift and tighten the skin, giving it more resilience and a healthy appearance.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing Like?

Your specialist will apply the treatment to your skin with a handheld applicator. You may feel some warmth, but the special cooling tips help control any discomfort. Procedures normally last about 60 minutes

Is There Any Downtime with Laser Skin Resurfacing?

You may experience some redness, sensitivity, and soreness for one to three days after treatment. During this time, follow your specialist’s instructions on how to clean the treated area, and make sure you follow their recommendations for diligent sun protection during your skin’s healing time. You can resume most normal activities but may want to take a day or two to let any redness or sensitivity subside.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

Different types of laser skin resurfacing have widely different costs. According to the American Academy of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of a non-ablative treatment is $1445 and for ablative treatment, $2509. Keep in mind that price can vary depending on your area, the experience of your provider, and many other factors.

The best way to establish an accurate idea of your cost: schedule a consultation at Twin Ports Dermatology. We will review all costs and help you feel comfortable knowing you will not have any surprise fees or expenses.

Am I A Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

If you have skin laxity or other signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring, or other skin concerns, this procedure may work for you. Ideal candidates have mild to moderate skin laxity, do not smoke, and have no serious health concerns.

What Results Will I See With Laser Skin Resurfacing?

People will require a different number of treatments depending on the results they want to see. You will see smoother, tighter skin as soon as the redness and soreness go away. Over the next few weeks, you will see hyperpigmentation and other signs of aging fade away as new collagen and elastin increase skin turnover and bring new, brighter skin cells to the surface. The collagen and elastin also lift and firm the skin to provide improved facial contours and decreased wrinkles.
