Rosacea can cause dry, irritated skin and can be challenging to manage without proper knowledge and treatment. At Twin Ports Dermatology, we are here to answer your questions about rosacea and help you find the treatment that is best for you!
The cause of rosacea is unknown, but factors such as genetics, blood vessel issues, and bacteria may have a hand in its development. For individuals with rosacea, exercise, hot drinks, spicy food, weather, alcohol, and certain skincare products may trigger flare-ups. There are four types of rosacea: erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR), acne rosacea, ocular rosacea, and rhinophyma.

Rosacea can cause discomfort or embarrassment, and though there is no cure, there are ways to manage your symptoms. At Twin Ports Dermatology, we offer products and treatments to manage your rosacea.
The right products and routines can ease your symptoms. You should use mild cleansers and oil-free, water-based products. Products that contain alcohol, menthol, exfoliants, witch hazel, and fragrances can irritate your skin, so it is best to avoid them. Our Sensitive Skin Kit can restore delicate skin with products that soothe irritation, like our Rosy Solutions moisturizer, an excellent choice for red-prone or sensitive skin.
Skin Rejuvenation Advanced (SRA) Intense Light Treatment utilizes pulsed light and radio frequency energy to tighten your skin and diminishes acne scarring and sun damage. You may find SRA beneficial if you have uneven skin tone due to rosacea. Treatment only takes 30 to 45 minutes, and there is no downtime afterward.
Aside from quality skin care products, there are a few habits that you should add to your routine to control your rosacea. Make a note of and avoid activities or events that trigger your rosacea flare-ups, such as hot baths, alcoholic beverages, intense exercise, or extreme weather. Avoid direct sunlight and wear sunscreen diligently. Be gentle with your skin and avoid rubbing, scrubbing, or exfoliating. Finally, always test any products before applying them to your face.
